Located in the heart of Chicago’s South Side, the Muhammad Law Center is a grassroots legal organization dedicated to protecting the human rights of Black Americans. We vigorously challenge injustices perpetrated by the criminal legal system and litigate cases involving police brutality, prisoners’ rights, and wrongful convictions.
The Muhammad Law Center is more than just a legal service provider. We offer a community space where Black people can gather, learn, and organize. Our work includes:
- Hosting panel discussions on critical issues affecting the Black community
- Issuing reports on systemic inequalities and human rights violations
- Providing legal education and resources to empower our community.
Our Unique Approach
What sets the Muhammad Law Center apart is our deep-rooted connection to the Black community we serve. Unlike large, many law firms, we are a grassroots organization born from the very streets we defend. Our founder, Attorney Hakeem Muhammad, grew up in this community, experiencing firsthand the challenges and injustices faced by our people.
At the Muhammad Law Center, we don’t just litigate cases – we fight for our community. Our unique position as a Black-led, community-embedded legal center makes us uniquely qualified to handle police brutality and wrongful conviction cases with the passion, understanding, and effectiveness they deserve.
Choose the Muhammad Law Center for representation that goes beyond the courtroom – representation that truly understands and fights for you and your community.
