MUHAMMAD LAW CENTER LAUNCHES INSTITUTE FOR THE DEFENSE OF BLACK AMERICA
CHICAGO –
Attorney Hakeem Muhammad today announced the establishment of the Muhammad Law Center’s Institute for the Defense of Black America, a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to fighting back against attempts to dismiss the Black struggle against racism.
The Institute serves as a research and advocacy hub that fights back against common pushback like “What about Black-on-Black crime?” or “Slavery was in the past – get over it.” Through solid research and clear facts, the Institute stands up against these attempts to brush off Black Americans’ fight for equality.
“When Black America speaks about racism, they deserve more than deflection and dismissal,” said Attorney Hakeem Muhammad. “Our Institute exists to provide the intellectual backing that supports Black America’s continued struggle against racism.”
Key focus areas include:
- Examining wealth and income disparities between Black and white Americans
- Analyzing unfairness in the criminal justice system
- Addressing slavery’s lasting effects and today’s racism
- Fighting back against myths about affirmative action
The Institute maintains an extensive database of responses to common arguments used to dismiss racial inequities. This resource is free and open to everyone – from community members to teachers to activists.
