CHICAGO, IL (January 11, 2025) – Attorney Hakeem Muhammad of the Muhammad Law Center today announced that the Center will represent Jeff Fort in his upcoming parole hearing scheduled for May 2025.
“We are committed to challenging the destructive narrative that Black men are irredeemable and beyond rehabilitation,” said Attorney Muhammad, whose Center advocates for Black men in a criminal legal system that dehumanizes them.
The case exemplifies the broader issues of excessive sentencing and the myth of irredeemability applied to Black men. The Center is motivated to represent Mr. Fort because his case illustrates how systemic racism shapes the path of Black men into gangs, drugs, and the criminal underworld.
